Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development turns to Premier Virtual to Power Virtual Career Fairs

Premier Virtual is currently powering virtual hiring events for 1 in 3 workforce boards across the United States and is now working directly with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) to expand virtual job fair offerings statewide. Steve Edwards, CEO of Premier Virtual, grew up in Chippewa Falls and is very proud to provide his home state with innovative ways to help residents gain employment.

“It’s clear that as COVID-19 continues to raise new challenges, workforce development agencies and boards are finding innovative ways to support their residents during these difficult times and are turning to Premier Virtual for the answers,” explains Steve.  “Being able to power Wisconsin’s statewide virtual hiring events is personally very fulfilling and we look forward to the success that lies ahead.”

In late March 2020, DWD transitioned to remote job services due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Staff were able to quickly pivot and provide reemployment services by phone and offer job search assistance workshops using video conferencing tools. Recruitment services and job fairs, however, were temporarily paused as it was difficult to bring employers and job seekers safely together in-person and DWD did not have a virtual option.

Premier Virtual provides that virtual solution and creates a hiring event experience for employers and job seekers that is similar to the in-person job fairs that DWD has coordinated in the past.

“We are confident and excited about the hiring events that Premier Virtual can help facilitate through their online platform,” Secretary-designee Amy Pechacek said. “Reconnecting is important and this technology will increase engagement and efficiency, which will help people get back on their feet and into the workforce.”

The value of Premier Virtual services will last beyond the COVID-19 pandemic as DWD embraces new technology and virtual services moving forward. The platform allows DWD to easily collaborate with workforce development boards, engage other partners virtually, and connect job seekers with employers across the state.

Wisconsin is currently planning their spring virtual hiring events and will be publishing its schedule in the coming weeks here: http://wisconsinjobcenter.org/events/.
