At ChangYu Pump, we help buyers select a corrosion resistant pump by checking the liquid and the work it needs to do. Acid slurry brings two problems together: chemical attack on wetted parts and wear from suspended particles. Our UHB Series uses ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, or UHMWPE, in its wetted construction to address compatible duties where both corrosion and abrasion matter.
For phosphoric acid solutions and slurries, we offer UHB configurations that we assess as an acid transfer pump against the actual concentration, temperature, and solids content. We consider the lining, impeller, and seals together, then select the hydraulic configuration for the required flow and head. This guide explains the product features and the information that helps us prepare a useful proposal.
Choose an acid transfer pump for the liquid and solids
Tell us the chemical name, concentration, and normal operating temperature, including any changes during production or cleaning. A pump handling one steady feed can face a different duty when a batch changes or deposits form in the pipework. We also need the solids content, particle size and whether the liquid can crystallize.
Our published UHB phosphoric acid applications include fertilizer processing, chemical production and acidic wastewater containing suspended solids. In these processes, a chemically compatible lining still needs a suitable flow passage and seal arrangement. We review corrosion and wear together so that the proposed configuration addresses the liquid as well as the particles it carries.
How UHMWPE construction supports the duty
Our UHB is a cantilever, single-stage, single-suction centrifugal pump. The steel shell supports the UHMWPE-lined casing, while the lined surface contacts the liquid. Our phosphoric acid product page lists a lining thickness of 8 to 20 mm and UHMWPE impeller construction. The proposed thickness and component materials should be identified in the quotation for the selected configuration.
We offer semi-open or closed impeller arrangements according to the application. The impeller supplies energy to the liquid, and the casing guides it toward the discharge. For slurry service, we review the passage arrangement against particle size and solids content. This is why a clean-liquid specification alone cannot settle a slurry enquiry.
UHMWPE material selection must be checked for the actual chemical, concentration, and temperature. We do not treat the material name as approval for every acid or solvent. Share the full process conditions with us, including cleaning fluids, before choosing the wetted construction.
Select the seal for running and shutdown conditions
Our UHB phosphoric acid product information lists K-type dynamic seals, single and double mechanical seals, and packing seal options. The proposed arrangement depends on the liquid, suction conditions, and operating pattern. We ask whether the pump will run continuously, start and stop frequently, or require auxiliary water for the chosen seal.
A K-type dynamic arrangement uses an auxiliary impeller to influence pressure in the seal chamber during operation, with a static sealing element working when the pump stops. Mechanical seals provide another configuration to review. We identify the proposed seal materials and any flushing or cooling requirements before supply, so buyers can plan the necessary connections and maintenance access.
Read model data as a specific configuration
Our UHB specification PDF lists individual configurations with flow, head, speed, efficiency, power, and impeller diameter. For example, entry 28 lists a 65UHB configuration at 30 m³/h and 30 m head, running at 2,900 r/min with a 175 mm impeller. Its listed power is 7.5 kW for a liquid with a specific gravity of 1.
Other entries carry the same 65UHB designation with different operating data and impeller diameters. We therefore confirm the exact configuration instead of selecting by that designation alone. Your liquid density, viscosity, and suction conditions also need review when assessing the duty and power requirement. The catalog example supports a selection discussion; it does not guarantee the same performance with every acid slurry.
Experience with corrosive fertilizer slurry
Our published United States fertilizer-plant application describes supplying UHMWPE-lined UHB pumps for slurry transfer in an ammoniation-based production line. The process involved corrosive liquid and solid particles, requiring attention to wetted materials and slurry handling.
That application illustrates our approach to combined corrosion and wear. Its alkaline slurry duty differs from phosphoric acid service, so we use it as an experience example and assess each new acid application separately.
About ChangYu Pump and your next enquiry
We are Anhui Changyu Pump and Valve Manufacturing Co., Ltd., established in 2006 in Anhui, China. We manufacture industrial pumps and provide product selection and customization support. For this UHB enquiry, our focus is on a UHMWPE configuration matched to your process and installation.
Send the chemical name, concentration, temperature, required flow, and head to jade@changyupump.com. Include solids content, particle size, liquid density and viscosity where known, along with suction conditions and your electrical requirements. If you are replacing a pump, its nameplate, connection dimensions, and the problem you want to resolve will help us review the application.
Ask us for the proposed UHB configuration, confirmed wetted materials and seal arrangement, relevant model data, installation information, and a quotation. With those details, you can compare the equipment against your process and maintenance needs before purchasing.
