During a virtual event on Wednesday, October 27th, 2021, 5:00- 6:30 pm (ET), guest editors Jean Jonassaint (Syracuse University) and Reynolds Andújar (Governors State University) will present a new issue of Hostos Review/ Revista Hostosiana and the research behind its making.
Most of the texts gathered are recent and unpublished. A few are archival or previously published texts of unique value.
Guest editors Jean Jonassaint (Syracuse University) and Reynolds Andújar (Governors State University) cordially invite you to this virtual presentation and discussion of the new issue of Hostos Review/Revista Hostosiana 17 entitled, “De las condiciones negras: un diálogo entre el Caribe francófono y el Caribe hispano/ Des conditions noires: un dialogue entre les Caraïbes francophones et hispanophones/ Black Conditions: A French-Spanish Caribbean Dialogue/” on Wednesday, October 27th, 2021, 5:00- 6:30 pm (ET). During the virtual event, the guest editors will present the volume and the research behind its making.Contributing authors attending the event — Marie-Célie Agnant (Haiti-Canada), Kianny Antigua (Dominican Republic-US), Dominique Deblaine (Guadeloupe), Yaissa Jiménez (Dominican Republic), Lauristely Peña (Dominican Republic), Evelyne Trouillot (Haiti), Sherezada “Chiqui” Vicioso (Dominican Republic-US) —, as well as translator Asselin Charles (Haiti-Canada), will read brief excerpts from their works.

A roundtable discussion will follow the reading and exchange with the authors and the audience. The journal’s Chief Editor, Inmaculada Lara-Bonilla, will moderate the event. President Daisy Cocco de Filippis and Provost Charles Drago of Hostos College will offer welcoming remarks; and closing remarks by Professor Emma Ticio, chair of the Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics (Syracuse University).
