Shell Selects Calgary-based Startup Quasar to Provide Railcar Visibility and Analytics

The Quasar platform will significantly reduce Shell Sulphur’s supply chain costs.

CALGARY, AB—March 31, 2021—Quasar, an end-to-end supply chain visibility platform developed by Cando Rail Services, has signed an agreement with Shell Canada to implement the full Quasar platform within Shell’s Sulphur business.

Quasar combines real-time tracking with powerful data and analytics to optimize supply chain performance. The agreement with Shell involves the installation of Quasar Lenz sensors, as well as full access to the Quasar platform to perform visualizations, mapping and analytics.

“Our solution design strategy for Shell Sulphur starts with using the Quasar platform to capture real-time GPS location data,” explains Corrie Banks, General Manager of Quasar. “The insights gathered from the real-time data will give Shell Sulphur visibility and control over administrative issues, rail network system challenges, and dwell across the network, as well as track GHG emissions and further qualify opportunities to reduce cost and reduce cycle time!”
