Mechanics need strong technical skills and years of experience to succeed in the industry. An inexperienced mechanic should always work with under-qualified professionals until he or she has all of the knowledge to go out on his own. Samir Allen Farhoumand explained that while many mechanical skills can be learned, innate dexterity can be a major advantage.
“Proficiency with basic tools and the dexterity to use them effectively are essential characteristics of a great mechanic,” Samir Allen Farhoumand said. “An excellent mechanic will have fine-tuned technical skills.”
Samir Allen Farhoumand finished by stating that solid communication skills are what can really set a mechanic apart from the rest. He or she should be a strong leader that is able to designate jobs to certain members of the team to ensure all projects are completed on time and as close as possible to the estimate given. Samir Allen Farhoumand added that communication is a key part of customer service, and a mechanic who communicates clearly and honestly is far more likely to succeed than one who doesn’t.
