An MLB Coach Learned the Hard Way How Quickly a Socially Distanced High Five Can Turn Into a Nazi Salute

After the Oakland Athletics beat the Texas Rangers on Thursday, their bench coach, Ryan Christenson, raised his arm to form what he later said was an attempt at a properly socially distanced elbow bump. What it really looked like, as at least one player immediately realized, was a Nazi salute. Closer Liam Hendriks pushed Christenson’s arm down, and the coach was filmed laughing and raising his arm again.
