Hollywood is swapping humans for an actual AI robot called Erica for an upcoming movie titled b.
Erica, created by Japanese scientists Hiroshi Ishiguro and Kohei Ogawa, will play the lead role for the US$70 million flick about “a scientist who discovers dangers associated with a program he created to perfect human DNA.”
If you are wondering how the five-year-old robot is able to perform onscreen, well, her creators have already “taught her [how] to act [by] applying the principles of method acting to artificial intelligence.”
Production companies Bondit Capital Media, Happy Moon Productions, and Ten Ten Global Media have invested in Erica for the upcoming film, which is scheduled to be released in 2021, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Soon, moviegoers will be able to witness the real-life robot making her debut in theaters.
