Dream’s most recent update has integrated VR into the title, allowing for some truly exciting and new gameplay experiences never-before-seen in PSVR.
In a massive, long awaited updated, Dreams for the PS4 now features PSVR capabilities. The game was originally intended to release with VR integration back in February, but the idea was momentarily delayed to optimize the games basic systems. Now players are finally able to explore the vast possibilities that VR brings to the title, PSVR may be a worthy investment for this game alone.
Dreams is a game creation tool developed by Media Molecule, the studio behind LittleBigPlanet and Tearaway, in which players can either produce their own games or play those of others. The game is very community driven, allowing for easy game publication and updating. Featuring simplified, easy to learn systems, game development experience is not required to create some extraordinary works. With limitless possibilities, Dreams has a lot to offer.
The key attraction of Dreams is the Do-It-Yourself gameplay style. This means that upon purchasing the game, players now have access to an ever growing library of content created by other players. With the recent VR integration, one of the first games that appeared was a recreation of the popular game, Beat Saber. Another player the equivalent of a VR version of Motorstorm Apocalypse, a racing game known for its off-roading and crazy environmental events. Given that the world and tracks in this fan-game can change in real-time, VR really lets players explore the full scope of the title. Games in Dreams touch across every imaginable genre of gameplay, meaning there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
How PSVR Works In Dreams
One of the primary appeals of VR is the additional immersive quality that it provides. It’s one experience to look at a game on a screen, it’s another to exist seemingly within the game space. Due to the growing catalogue of titles Dreams provides, players will be able to play specific game genres in a new way. In an update video by PS Europe, the player is shown moving a cube through a series of puzzles. This side-scroller style game is often rendered in a 2D space, but with VR, players are able to exist at the center of this world. This allows for creators to now produce fully encompassing, 3D puzzles like never before. Another player has been creating their own version of Halo Infinite after the game’s mixed reactions during the Xbox Games Showcase. This realistic title looks and feels like a Halo game while placing players in the shoes of Master Chief himself.
For those who love to create, Dreams has smoothly integrated PSVR into its build systems. If someone is building a game and would like to see it in VR, all it takes is a press of a button: there is no need to create two alternative versions of the game. For those who may opt to create something with one type of vision support, PSVR can be turned off or made VR-exclusive. This allows creators to really tailor the experience they are looking to create. Likewise, games can be made to function both in and out of VR. With a variety of optional and comfort settings, players can really customize how they want VR to feel for them. This makes individualization a lot more accessible and easy to tailor.
Whether users enjoy playing games or creating theirr own, Dreams has a lot to offer. With its ability to accommodate PSVR, even more avenues have been open. Previous games can now be experiences in VR and new, VR tailored creations can now be created with ease. If one doesn’t possess a VR headset already, it may be worth purchasing one just to experience the vast universe players can explore in Dreams.
