LOS ANGELES, July 16, 2021– Rythmia Life Advancement Center today announced that Martin Luther King III, recipient of the Ramakrishna Bajaj Memorial Global Award for outstanding contributions to the promotion of human rights, was appointed to its Board of Directors, effective July 2, 2021. Mr. King joins Rev. Michael Bernard Beckwith, Toni Ko, Gerard Armond Powell, Dr. Jeff McNairy, Gerard Powell II, and Patrick Powell as a member of the Board.

BACKGROUND ON MARTIN LUTHER KING III
Martin Luther King III is an American human rights advocate. As the oldest son and oldest living child of civil rights leaders Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, King served as a member of the Fulton County Commission from 1987 to 1993, and as the 4th President of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference from 1997 to 2004.
Mr. King also spoke on behalf of then-Sen. Barack Obama during the 2008 Democratic National Convention. The event marked the 45th anniversary of the “I Have a Dream” speech and the first time an African American accepted the presidential nomination of a major party.
