On March 8, marking the International Women’s Day, the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) co-hosted an online conference, alongside the International Committee of Parliamentarians for a Democratic Iran and the British Committee for Iran Freedom (BCFIF). The event was live on MEK Iran’s Facebook page.
The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) is a democratic coalition of Iranian opposition organizations and personalities, whose main member is MEK Iran.
The highlighted topics of the online conference included the institutionalized gender discrimination in Iran and the central role of female activists in an ongoing effort to remove the country’s theocratic dictatorship and establish a democratic system of government.
Lawmakers and Activist Join MEK Iran Conference
Western lawmakers and human rights experts joined the conference.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the NCRI, indicated that this year’s Women’s Day event was taking place against the backdrop of protracted unrest inside Iran, specifically in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.
According to Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, since always, women’s struggle and sacrifice have been the foundations of progress and the guarantee for democracy in the world.
This year’s International Women’s Day celebrated the commitment and the power of the Iranian women.
“We can, and we must secure the victory of freedom and equality amid disease, oppression, and poverty,” said Mrs. Maryam Rajavi. The speech is available at organization’s YouTube channel and has been spread out by supporters all over the world.
In Iran, many of the women’s most basic rights have been denied. This has created a significant gender gap. Nevertheless, Iranian women, who have tolerated oppression and suppression at the hands of the ruling regime, have greater motivation to end this regime.
Heroism Demonstrated by Iranian Women
A remarkable heroism has been demonstrated by Iranian women in five nationwide uprisings.
They have shown their qualifications in setting up Resistance Units and their crucial role in the organized resistance movement.
Iranian women, who are in great majority members of MEK Iran, are committed to end the catastrophe caused by the regime, by fighting for their rights. They have never succumbed to the regime’s misogynistic and repression policies. During the last four decades, they have been organizing and bravely standing at the forefront of widespread protests and uprisings. Iranian women have a leadership role in the Iranian Resistance movement.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi pointed out that the denial of women’s rights is the most blatant aspect of the elimination of human rights of the Iranian people by the ruling regime.
“All those concerned about the threats posed by this regime to the international community must support Iranian women’s resistance,” said Mrs. Maryam Rajavi.
Mrs. Rajavi on the Democratic Change in Iran
Women represent the single most prominent force for a democratic change in Iran. According to Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, this change will result in benefit to the region and the entire world.
Furthermore, Mrs. Rajavi used the occasion to urge all advocates of gender equality across the world to support Iranian women as leaders of the Resistance movement: “I urge all advocates of gender equality across the world to support the women of Iran and the Iranian people’s uprising for freedom,” she said. Sarvenaz Chitsaz, Chair of the NCRI’s Women’s Committee also spoke at the online conference marking the International Women’s Day.
In her opinion, Maryam Rajavi has a crucial role in leading the fight for a democratic change in Iran.
”Maryam Rajavi is an inspiration for all the women who are resisting against the misogynist rule of the mullahs,” said Chitsaz.
