The Safe Travels Stamp was delivered to Peru in a ceremony held in Machu Picchu that endorses the tourism biosecurity protocols adopted by the Peruvian State in the face of pandemic and recognizes our country as a safe tourist destination for the world. In this way, the confidence of the visitors will be recovered and natural and unforgettable experiences will be offered.
It is important to highlight that Cusco was the first city to receive the international emblem, followed by the Sacred Valley, Miraflores, Ayacucho (the Wari Archaeological Complex, the historical Sanctuary of the Pampa de Ayacucho and the Turquoise waters of Millpu) and San Martín (Tarapoto and Altomayo).
It should be noted that to deliver the badge, the regional authorities formally request its award from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism. Then, a technical team is formed in which regional, local and private sector authorities participate. Information is collected, the implementation of the protocols is verified and corrective measures are taken where it is necessary. This refers to the level of cleaning, disinfection, waste management, among others, framed in the protocols issued by the Peruvian government.
THE ‘SAFE TRAVELS’ STAMP
As recalled, the World Travels and Tourism Council (WTTC) created the ‘Safe Travels’ stamp with the aim of contributing to the responsible and safe reopening of tourism. For this reason, it developed a set of protocols designed under the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
It is important to note that this stamp also has the support of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and more than 200 executives from the main business groups in the sector around the world.
