Best budget phones in India under Rs 10,000 for July 2020

At the start of 2020, we had a great set of budget phones in India, with players from Realme, Xiaomi, and more offering their devices at competitive pricing with best specs possible for the price. Fast forward H2, 2020, the table has turned a bit: The affordable phones are getting costlier. 

Not only the affordable segment, overall the price of smartphones gradually from April thanks to new GTS rates, lockdown, and the production issues. Since companies keep a low margin in this segment, they have increased prices to keep the company up and running. The smartphones under Rs 10,000 segment now consists of smartphones from Xiaomi, Realme, Motorola, and Nokia. 

These smartphones offer a good overall good user experience with a solid build, great battery life, a pleasing display and an improved camera at very reasonable prices.   

And while there haven’t been many launches in the past couple of months, there are several great options when it comes to phones under Rs 10,000. And actually narrowing it down from the tons of options can be a bit overwhelming and confusing.

1. Xiaomi Redmi 8

Unsurprisingly, Xiaomi appears on this list once again with its Redmi 8. On paper, it’s very similar to the Redmi 8A, with a Snapdragon 439 chipset, a 6.2-inch HD+ display and a big battery. 

It has a glossy back that mimics glass and looks rather premium, offers a dual-camera setup on the back and also provides a physical fingerprint scanner.

 

The 5,000 mAh battery is one of the biggest in this segment, and the 18W fast charging over USB Type-C will help future-proof this phone.

2. Realme Narzo 10A

There is no fast charging here but the device comes with reverse charging feature. It ships with Realme UI based on Android 10.

This phones also falls under the Android One program, so you will get two Android version upgrades and three years of security updates from the HMD global. 

 

However, the handset packs in an average 3,000mAh battery that doesn’t support fast charging and still comes with a micro USB port. The performance is good for day to day usage. You get dual 13MP and 2MP cameras and an 8MP front camera. Powering the handset is the Snapdragon 439 chipset. There is also a dedicated Google Assistance button and a fingerprint scanner at the rear.

The device houses a dual rear camera with a 13MP f/2.2 primary sensor followed by a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor. To power the device, the handset will feature a 4,000mAh battery with micro USB  interface for charging. There is no support for fast charging either.
