The NFL has always been one of most popular sports in the United States. In fact, is has arguably surpassed baseball as the most preferred and watched sport in the country. In addition, the league has most profound impacts off the field, helping communities in various ways.<\/p>\n

For the last four decades, the NFL has partnered with United Way to help form healthier and overall stronger communities.\u00a0 According to lines.com<\/a> the duration of this partnership marks the longest between a nonprofit organization and a sports league.<\/p>\n

Dedicated to supporting the wellbeing and safety of athletes at all levels, which includes youth league, the NFL Foundation<\/a> is a nonprofit organization that works with every NFL Club. The foundation helps support youth football through USA Football and last year gave out a record number of grants across the country in support of community growth and health. In addition, the foundation has been instrumental in providing finances to schools to enhance fitness, education, and football programs. The NFL Foundation also helps current and retired players with their work in communities by providing grants.<\/p>\n

Not only does the NFL Foundation help athletes, but they also help school communities by teaching students how to be stellar members of society by building strong moral character. Programs are provided in schools to help enhance education and decision-making processes that help in school and everyday life.<\/p>\n

Created in 2016, Character Playbook educates students on how to form and maintain solid relationships during the important early teen years. Schools have access to this program free thanks to the partnership of the NFL and the United Way.<\/p>\n

As part of the NFL\u2019s Inspire Change Program and access to 175 schools across North Dakota, Montana, Arkansas, Florida, and Georgia, a digital education program known as 306 provides African American history to schools. It has also helped students learn about the importance of voting with well over 80 percent indicating they would vote in upcoming elections.<\/p>\n

The NFL does an outstanding job giving the youth across the country chances to play football, stay in shape, and participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities. Not only do youth have places to play, but the NFL Foundation program also emphasizes the importance of coaching, life skills, safety, and overall well-being.<\/p>\n

During this past year, the NFL Draft was a virtual fundraiser for six charities that were on the frontline during the COVID-19 pandemic.\u00a0 They raised more than $100 million for the Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, American Red Cross, Feeding America, CDC Foundation\u2019s All of Us, and United Way\u2019s COVID-19 Community Response and Recovery Fund.<\/p>\n

The NFL is far more than just a top sports league filled with the best athletes in the world. Their charitable efforts are numerous and deserve the utmost recognition.<\/p>\n
