According to financial reports from Koei Tecmo, Atlus’s Dynasty Warriors-style spinoff game Persona 5 Scramble is getting a US release.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/header>\n

A recent financial report from Koei Tecmo indicates that Persona 5 Scramble<\/a><\/em><\/strong> is getting a US release on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Persona 5 Scramble<\/em> is a spinoff of Persona 5<\/em>, the most recent game in Atlus’s famous RPG franchise. Scramble<\/em> takes the characters from Persona 5<\/em> and puts them in a crossover with Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty<\/em> Warriors<\/em><\/a> series, featuring hack and slash gameplay<\/a> and hoards of small, easily slaughtered enemies.<\/p>\n

Persona 5 Scramble<\/em> was released in Japan only in February of this year. Reviews were favorable; Famitsu gave it 36\/40. The game flew under the radar due to its lack of a worldwide release and its release around the same time as Persona 5 Royal<\/a><\/em>, a substantially enhanced version of the original Persona 5<\/em> RPG from 2016. Royal<\/em> released in October 2019 in Japan and got a worldwide release in March this year, to broad acclaim<\/a>. In the shadow of that immense success, Persona 5 Scramble<\/em> went all but forgotten.<\/p>\n

But not for long. Koei Tecmo, which collaborated with Atlus to develop Persona 5 Scramble<\/em>, released its financial reports (thanks, Persona Central<\/a><\/em>) for April, May, and June, and these reports included a section about planned future releases. Persona 5 Scramble<\/em> was clearly listed in this section, marked for a release on PS4 and Switch in the West; this is the first time either developer has officially acknowledged the game being released for US audiences<\/a>. A release date was not given for the project; presumably a more official announcement will follow shortly that might shed more information on this project.<\/p>\n

Atlus has a long history of creating strange spinoffs and crossovers with their IPs. The past three Persona<\/em> games have all had dancing spinoffs<\/a>. Persona 4<\/em> and Persona 5<\/em> even had a crossover with each other in Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth<\/em>, and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE<\/a> <\/em>is a crossover between the developer’s Shin Megami Tensei<\/em> series and Nintendo’s famous Fire Emblem<\/a><\/em> franchise. Koei Tecmo is no stranger to crossovers either, having implemented their trademark hack and slash combat in games featuring The Legend of Zelda<\/a><\/em> and Fire Emblem<\/em> characters. A game like Persona 5 Scramble<\/em> looks like a shoe-in for both developers.<\/p>\n

Persona 5 Scramble<\/em> is a much different experience from what fans of the series are used to. While the turn-based system from the original Persona 5<\/em> experience remains, it’s combined with the chaotic large-scale combat system from Dynasty Warriors<\/em>, which should make for a particularly unique experience that could turn some people off to the game. But fans of Persona 5<\/em>‘s endearing characters and its complicated and bizarre story should still find a lot to love about Persona 5 Scramble<\/strong><\/em> whenever it releases in the United States.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
