According to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/07\/10\/technology\/tiktok-amazon-security-risk.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>New York Times<\/em><\/a>, the company email stated that the app is now prohibited from all employee phones that can &ldquo;access Amazon email,&rdquo; and that employees need to remove the app by Friday in order to for email access to continue.<\/p>\n<p>TikTok has been under increased scrutiny lately. The app, which is owned by Chinese tech company ByteDance, was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/india-tiktok-china-apps-164013309.html\">banned in India<\/a>&nbsp;last month. More recently, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said that the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/11\/01\/technology\/tiktok-national-security-review.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">US could ban Chinese apps like TikTok<\/a>&nbsp;due to the potential threat to national security.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"o-article_block pb-15 pb-5@m- mt-n35 mt-n25@m mt-n15@s\">\n<div class=\"grid@tl+\">\n<div class=\"full-width@tp- grid@tl+__cell col-8-of-12@tl+\">\n<div class=\"article-text c-gray-1 no-review\">\n<p>TikTok itself also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/tiktok-exit-hong-kong-china-security-law-083620437.html\">pulled out of the Hong Kong market<\/a>&nbsp;on Monday, citing a new Chinese national security law that would make it impossible to use. Despite TikTok being based in China, the country itself does not have access to the app. The company has even decided to stop employing Chinese moderators and claimed that none of its data is stored in China.
