Aston Martin is weathering the storm by unveiling its first-ever production DBX SUV. Following a fresh infusion of funds from Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll, Aston Martin’s St Athan assembly plant is bustling with activity to finally deliver its first batch of DBX SUVs to waiting clients.<\/p>\n

The DBX is the first Aston Martin to be made entirely in Wales. According to the British automaker, around 80-percent of production is expected to be sold and exported to other parts of the globe. Clearly, the DBX is an important vehicle for Aston Martin. The company reported losses of $146-million in the first quarter of 2020 (no thanks, in part, to the persistent Coronavirus pandemic), and the DBX is expected to cushion the blow.<\/p>\n

The newest Aston Martin DBX<\/a> is constructed using a bonded aluminum chassis to reduce weight. Powered by an AMG-sourced twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 shared with the Vantage<\/a> and DB11, the DBX is good for 542-horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, making it more powerful than Aston’s lineup of sports cars.<\/p>\n

It has a nine-speed automatic transmission connected to an AMG-sourced all-wheel-drive system. Equipped with an electronic rear locking differential, active center differential, and a carbon-fiber propeller shaft, the DBX can scoot to 60 mph from rest in 4.3-seconds. Aston claims a top speed of 181 mph, effectively making it one of the world’s fastest SUVs.<\/p>\n
