It’s been 16 years since identical twin sisters Jessica<\/a> and Lisa Origliasso<\/a> formed their band The Veronicas<\/a>.<\/p>\n In 2005, they released their debut single, ‘4ever’ — a timeless anthem, beloved by Australians, which was certified platinum status by the Australian Recording Industry Association.<\/p>\n Now, three albums, two ARIAs, three MTVAAs, a wedding and a short hiatus later, they’re preparing to release their next record: Human<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n On July 3, much to the delight of their fans, they released the album’s first single — ‘Biting My Tongue<\/a>‘.<\/p>\n “This one is really about saying ‘I need to declare my undying love for you. No regrets,” Jess tells 9Honey Celebrity.<\/p>\n “Vulnerability is fearlessness,” adds Lisa. “To embrace that and realise that vulnerability is strength, by embracing that nothing feels better. Jess and I tend to say it all. We’d rather have no regrets, than ever wonder. We’ve always followed our hearts in that regard. We’d rather say too much than say nothing at all.”<\/p>\n And they don’t have any regrets.<\/p>\n In 2018, Lisa married actor Logan Huffman after four years of dating. They wed in a stunning vintage-inspired ceremony on the Sunshine Coast.Related<\/span><\/p>\n And a wedding is on the horizon for Jess too.<\/p>\n In November 2018, she announced her engagement to Kai Carlton<\/a>. However, due to COVID-19, the couple haven’t seen each other in five months and the future is a little uncertain.<\/p>\n “My partner is in America and we’ve been apart for five months with no idea when we will see each other again,” Jess says. Despite the distance, Jess is focused on “living our relationship like we would.”<\/p>\n “You still cultivate loyalty, your love, creating date nights and having fun,” she explains. “Continuing to deepen the relationship. It’s a different way of doing it but it gives you a chance to cultivate that trust. I’m lucky I found someone who has that same focus as me.”<\/p>\n And while the wedding plans are on hold, they’re not too worried.<\/p>\n “If we were to sit and be stressed about the fact that we can’t get married right now, or we don’t know when we will see each other again — We already have enough pain in our life with our mum not being well,<\/a> it puts everything else into a greater perspective. I feel blessed to have a loving partner that I love and loves me. We get to celebrate our love in a different way. It’s difficult but it’s not that difficult.”<\/p>\n “For better or worse, you don’t have to be married to have that commitment. When you find a soul mate, distance and time can’t keep you apart,” Lisa adds.<\/p>\n That’s not to say distance has been easy.<\/p>\n “I have days where I melt down. I melted down last night. I just want to come home and have someone cook me dinner,” Jess jokes. “You miss those things where you don’t have to be independent all the time, but at the end of the day I’m so blessed.”<\/p>\n The Veronicas have no intention of slowing down anytime soon.<\/p>\n “I think we’ll make music forever,” says Lisa. “We’re celebrating 15 years, and that’s an incredible achievement as artists and siblings. The highs and the lows. We pride ourselves on sticking together and creating from the space we always have.”<\/p>\n Looking back at a career that’s seen them grow up in the public eye, the sisters could never have imagined how much they’d evolve together. They had to become adults quickly in order to survive.<\/p>\n “Early on, we were young women in a pop industry in the USA where it’s incredibly competitive and dictated by men in corporate positions,” Jess says. “You experience things, and you have to have each other’s back. You have to become business women real quick, find your voice real quick and have each other’s back. You have to grow up quickly. <\/p>\n “Sometimes I look at solo artists, and think, ‘Thank God I didn’t have to do it alone.’ When one of us is having a harder time, the other one steps up and brings the other up.”<\/p>\n The Veronicas hope that their new album provides some respite during difficult times.<\/p>\n “As far as what’s happening around the world, we’re trying to create music that impacts people in some way. It’s a personal relationship, and it’s a personal thing for Lisa and I,” Jess says. “I think now more than ever we need music to go internal and help cope. Either way music is so healing.”<\/p>\n “Creating an online space where fans can come together and listen and feel part of a community,” adds Lisa.<\/p>\n “It feels like a completion of something,” Jess said. “We’ll move on from that, but that will stay captured forever.
