{"id":39504,"date":"2020-07-07T14:38:00","date_gmt":"2020-07-07T14:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/icrowdnewswire.com\/?p=2639837"},"modified":"2020-07-07T14:38:00","modified_gmt":"2020-07-07T14:38:00","slug":"a-third-of-us-companies-slashed-worker-pay-for-pandemic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipsnews.net\/business\/2020\/07\/07\/a-third-of-us-companies-slashed-worker-pay-for-pandemic\/","title":{"rendered":"A Third Of US Companies Slashed Worker Pay For Pandemic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"233\" height=\"24\" src=\"https:\/\/icrowdnewswire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/4127-logo.png\" class=\"webfeedsFeaturedVisual wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"display: block; margin-bottom: 5px; clear:both;max-width: 100%;\" link_thumbnail=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"share-img-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"share-img-wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"bigimageuser g0 gThumb \" src=\"https:\/\/securecdn.pymnts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/unemployment-2-457x274.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n<p>A new survey by global outplacement and executive and business coaching firm&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.challengergray.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Challenger, Gray &amp; Christmas<\/a>&nbsp;found that 30 percent of companies have cut pay in response to the pandemic, the company announce in a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.challengergray.com\/press\/press-releases\/survey-30-companies-cut-pay-response-covid-19-major-companies-already\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Fifty-five percent of those companies said the pay cuts allowed them to avoid layoffs in the long run.<\/p>\n<p>According to the survey, 44 percent of respondents said the pay cuts had happened across the board, while 34.22 percent said they&rsquo;d happened for executive or higher-up positions only and 11.11 percent said the cuts had just been for &ldquo;certain positions,&rdquo; the release said.<\/p>\n<p>Now that many of the government-mandated shutdowns across the world are lifting, some of the companies have begun reversing the pay cuts.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aon<\/a>, a consulting firm, has reversed its cuts and additionally added repayments for what workers lost, along with additional bonuses. And&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/moneygram.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MoneyGram<\/a>&nbsp;has reversed the 20 percent pay cuts imposed on non-hourly employees from March, according to a regulatory filing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/andrewchallenger\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andrew Challenger<\/a>, senior vice president of the firm, said the recent findings underscored a new trend for employment.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It used to be that companies would do everything they could to avoid cutting pay.
