expressing a contemporary influence from the traditional cabin<\/a> typology, gnocchi+danesi architects presents its ‘mountain refuge.’ <\/strong>with the minimal timber dwelling, the design team introduces a space in which human’s origins, and a connection with nature and history can be relived. the cabin is proposed as a wooden structure realized as two modules, covering a total floor area of twenty four square meters<\/a>. the team proposes the option to include an additional module of twelve square meters, thus reaching a total size of up to thirty six square meters. the adaptable construction allows for programmatic flexibility as the module does not require any specific foundation work.<\/p>\n

gnocchi+danesi architects<\/strong> designs the mountain refuge<\/a> as a modular system which can be sited along the landscape using prefabricated elements.<\/strong> no poured-concrete is required, although in locations with more extreme conditions the team suggests at least a thin concrete slab. the interiors are finished with an exposed plywood, while exterior plywood is coated with black pine tar, lending the dark, warm look together with water-proofing. the front facade of the mountain refuge is expressed with a wide glass panel, opening up the tiny space to invite the landscape inside.<\/p>\n
