<\/div>\nXandra van der Eijk<\/a> will speak to Dezeen in a live Screentime<\/a> conversation sponsored by Philips TV & Sound as part of Virtual Design Festival<\/a>. Watch from 12:30pm UK time.<\/p>\n The Dutch artist and designer will discuss her work with Dezeen’s founder and editor-in-chief Marcus Fairs.<\/p>\n Van der Eijk<\/a> is an alumna of the Royal Academy of Art and the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, the Netherlands, where she obtained a degree in graphic design and an interdisciplinary masters in art-science.<\/p>\n The designer 3D-scanned the foot of a glacier for an installation about ecological issues<\/p>\n Her work explores the intersection of design and ecological issues, taking what Van der Eijk refers to as an “anti-anthropocentric” approach.<\/p>\n Previous projects include an installation comprising a series of 3D-printed models of the foot of a receding glacier in Switzerland<\/a>. The exhibit attempted to explore feelings of “ecological grief”.<\/p>\n In 2018, Van der Eijk poured household chemicals onto metal objects for an installation that aimed to demonstrate how chemical waste dumping is affecting the earth<\/a>.<\/p>\n This conversation is sponsored by Philips TV & Sound<\/a> and is part of our Screentime series<\/a> for Virtual Design Festival, which features interviews with designers including Teresa van Dongen<\/a>, Theodora Alfredsdottir <\/a>and Ini Archibong<\/a>.<\/p>\n Previous sessions have included Marjan van Aubel<\/a> from the Netherlands, Shahar Livne<\/a> from Israel and Adam Nathaniel Furman<\/a> from the UK.<\/p>\n About Virtual Design Festival<\/strong><\/p>\n Virtual Design Festival<\/a> runs from 15 April to 10 July 2020.
