T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T customers are experiencing issues placing calls across the US, according to user reports on Downdetector<\/a> and on social media<\/a>, with reports spiking around 2:20 PM ET.<\/p>\n

The issue appears to be entirely on T-Mobile’s end: While AT&T tells The Verge<\/em> that its network is “operating normally” and Verizon says its network is “performing well,” T-Mobile confirmed that it’s working to fix “a voice and data issue that has been affecting customers around the country.”<\/p>\n

Verizon also says it’s not to blame: “We’re aware that another carrier is having network issues. Calls to and from that carrier may receive an error message,” reads part of a statement from the company. It makes sense that what appears to be a multi-network outage could actually stem from a single carrier, since people reporting failed calls don’t always know which carrier their recipient is using.<\/p>\n

As of nearly midnight ET, six hours after its previous update, T-Mobile is still busy resolving the issue. “We are recovering from this now but it may still take several more hours before customer calling and texting is fully recovered,” reads a new blog post<\/a> from T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert.<\/p>\n

As of 6PM ET, the company had already restored data services, but was still struggling to return phone calls to normal.<\/p>\n

It’s still unclear what the issue might be, though T-Mobile is now saying that it’s an “IP traffic related issue that has created significant capacity issues in the network core throughout the day.”<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, multiple Verge<\/em> staffers were unable to place calls on T-Mobile. It appeared that both Sprint, now a T-Mobile subsidiary<\/a>, and US Cellular are also experiencing problems.<\/p>\n
