Are Elections?\u2019, examines the technological, institutional and legal issues surrounding the election process without taking a position in partisan political debates.\u201d The controversies raise questions about the security of the process. The latest issue of TAG Infosphere\u2019s Security Quarterly\u2014\u201cThe Vote Is Secure. Are Elections?\u201d\u2014explores many of the issues, and the system\u2019s vulnerabilities, without taking sides in the partisan debates. And it even predicts a change that would transform the way we vote.<\/p>\n

Articles in the Quarterly examine potential vulnerabilities before and after ballots are cast, cybersecurity and foreign-interference risks, and how U.S. electoral integrity compares with other Western democracies.<\/p>\n

Edward Amoroso, TAG\u2019s Founder and CEO, wrote a particularly provocative piece predicting that by 2040, nearly all of us will be voting with our phones. This will have many advantages, he argued. \u201cThe paper ballot has served America well,\u201d he said. \u201cBut technology, demographics, and public expectations are all moving in the same direction. The future of voting is almost certainly digital, decentralized, AI-assisted, and mobile.\u201d And it would almost certainly boost voter participation, he added.<\/p>\n

The Quarterly also includes an extended interview with NYU law professor and election law expert Richard Pildes examining legal and institutional risks surrounding U.S. elections and issues that could arise during the 2026 midterm election process.<\/p>\n
