What kind of publisher have I found? Is there already a relevant article on that site? And can the link genuinely add something to that article?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those questions usually tell me whether niche edits or niche guest posts make more sense.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Scenario 1: The Publisher Already Has a Strong Relevant Article<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is where I normally investigate a niche edit first.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Suppose I&#8217;m building links to an email marketing guide and find a publisher with an established article about improving email open rates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The article is relevant, indexed, internally linked and already receiving organic traffic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If my client&#8217;s resource genuinely adds useful information, inserting it into that existing article can make more sense than creating another post covering essentially the same subject.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The important part is context. I don&#8217;t want a sentence rewritten purely to squeeze in an anchor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The link should improve or support something already being discussed.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Scenario 2: I Need More Control Over the Context<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sometimes I find a good publisher but there isn&#8217;t an existing article where the backlink belongs naturally.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That&#8217;s when I usually prefer a guest post.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A new article gives me more control over:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the subject;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the surrounding discussion;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">where the target page is introduced;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">internal links;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">supporting sources;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and how naturally the backlink fits the article.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is particularly useful when the client&#8217;s product operates in a specialised niche.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I&#8217;d rather create a genuinely relevant article than force a link into an old page just because that URL already has some authority.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Scenario 3: The Target Page Is Highly Commercial<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is where I&#8217;d be especially careful.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Imagine I&#8217;m building links directly to a page selling accounting software.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finding ten unrelated articles and inserting the anchor &#8220;best accounting software&#8221; isn&#8217;t automatically a strong strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sometimes the better approach is to create or identify an informational topic around the problem the product solves.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, an article discussing how small businesses reduce month-end reporting time could naturally reference useful accounting resources.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The link now has an editorial reason to exist.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whether I&#8217;m using link building services or doing outreach manually, I want the placement to make sense to someone reading the article \u2014 not only to someone looking at the backlink report.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Scenario 4: The Existing URL Has Real Strength<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One reason niche edits can be attractive is that you&#8217;re dealing with an existing page rather than starting from zero.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But &#8220;old article&#8221; doesn&#8217;t automatically mean &#8220;strong article.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before approving the placement, I check whether the URL:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is indexed;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has relevant rankings;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">receives traffic;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has internal links;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has backlinks of its own;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and is still relevant to the site&#8217;s current content.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the article has been sitting unnoticed in the archive for six years with no rankings, traffic or links, its age alone doesn&#8217;t impress me.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Scenario 5: The Guest Post Can Become an Asset<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Guest posts are often treated purely as containers for backlinks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I think that&#8217;s a mistake.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A good niche guest post should be useful enough that the publisher has a reason to keep it, internally link to it and potentially rank it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If I can create something genuinely relevant to the publisher&#8217;s audience while naturally referencing the client&#8217;s resource, I&#8217;ll often prefer that over an awkward niche edit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The downside is that a new page starts without the history an established URL may already have.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That&#8217;s the trade-off.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What About Cost?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Price matters, but I wouldn&#8217;t choose between niche edits and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.icopify.com\/link-building-services\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">niche guest posts<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> purely based on which placement is cheaper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A \u00a370 placement that doesn&#8217;t make sense isn&#8217;t necessarily better value than a \u00a3150 placement on a genuinely relevant page.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I look at what I&#8217;m actually buying:<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>With a niche edit: What strength does the existing URL already have?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With a guest post: How good is the publisher, topic and editorial opportunity I&#8217;m getting?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That makes the cost comparison much more meaningful.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>So Which One Do I Choose?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My rule is fairly simple.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If a publisher already has a strong, relevant page where the backlink genuinely improves the content, I&#8217;ll consider the niche edit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If I need to build the right context around the link, I&#8217;ll usually consider the guest post.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And if neither option produces a placement that makes editorial sense, I won&#8217;t force either one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That&#8217;s what I want from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.icopify.com\/link-building-services\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">link building services<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as well.
