However, in the next two years, the market revenue of this industry is forecast to reach $25.5bn. Statistics show that this strong upward trend is likely to continue in the following years with market revenue growing by a compound annual growth rate of 26.4 percent between 2020 and 2024.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"3d-printing\">3D printing<\/h2>\n<p>While the report from Wohlers Associates focuses on revenue, Sculpteo&rsquo;s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/info.sculpteo.com\/the-state-of-3d-printing-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-original-href=\"https:\/\/info.sculpteo.com\/the-state-of-3d-printing-report\"><em>State of 3D Printing<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;report is more concerned with how businesses and organizations are using the technology now. According to Sculpteo, prototyping was the most popular use case for 3D printing among 68 percent of those surveyed. At the same time, another 59 percent of businesses used the technology for proof of concept purposes.<\/p>\n<p>Sculpteo&rsquo;s survey also showed that 41 percent of respondents said that the main reason they turned to 3D printing was to speed up product development. Offering customized products and limited series was the second most important reason for using the technology followed by increasing production flexibility.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of the number of patents filed related to 3D printing over the last decade,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.techradar.com\/news\/hp-plans-to-fight-covid-19-with-thousands-of-3d-printers\">HP<\/a>&nbsp;takes the lead.
