Liberty HealthShare operates fundamentally differently from other healthcare financing options. Monthly contributions from members fund the sharing of eligible expenses within the community. This direct connection between members creates a tangible sense of mutual support.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiberty HealthShare is the conduit, but it was my fellow members who shared my eligible medical expenses,\u201d explained Don Winslett, whose $58,000 in eligible prostate cancer treatment costs were shared by the community. \u201cFor them I\u2019m very thankful.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur focus at Liberty HealthShare is on our members,\u201d says Chief Executive Officer Dorsey Morrow. \u201cWe are here to help facilitate sharing between our members. We are not driven by profit. It\u2019s frankly our goal to go broke each month. The contributions coming in should be the contributions that go out.\u201d<\/p>\n

This encourages a community bound by shared values rather than corporate profit motives. The ministry\u2019s approximately 165 team members work to facilitate these connections rather than build financial reserves.<\/p>\n

Prayer-Centered Healthcare Support<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Prayer distinguishes Liberty HealthShare<\/a> from conventional healthcare financing. Staffers regularly pray with and for members facing medical challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a list that is distributed internally every Friday of prayer requests from our members,\u201d Morrow shares. \u201cIt\u2019s one of those times during the day you just stop, you read through it, and then we pray over it. Whether it\u2019s with the member or for the member, we are about prayer. We strongly believe in that here.\u201d<\/p>\n

This spiritual dimension provides comfort during difficult health journeys. Cindy Pavell, who joined Liberty HealthShare in 2017 and has battled multiple health challenges, including breast cancer, values this faith-based attitude.<\/p>\n

Good luck.\u2019 You can expect a lot of communication from us, a lot of resources,\u201d Morrow explains. \u201cWe honestly and sincerely want to cater to our members and help them navigate their healthcare journey because there are providers out there that are difficult to work with or who are not going to be transparent in talking to you.\u201d<\/p>\n

The ministry employs nurses who understand various medical issues and maintain regular contact with members facing health challenges. Pavell reported receiving periodic check-in calls from the Care Navigation team during her cancer treatment.<\/p>\n

This hands-on approach addresses a common frustration with healthcare systems where patients often feel like they aren\u2019t cared for. Winslett reflected on his previous experiences: \u201cIt was always a little difficult for me dealing with the insurance companies because to them you truly are just a number.\u201d<\/p>\n

Liberty HealthShare member Melissa Searls found out about the ministry through a physician. \u201cThere is a niche of people that really need Liberty HealthShare,\u201d Searls said. \u201cI\u2019m pretty healthy, so it\u2019s really peace of mind for me knowing that the community can be there for me if I get sick.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnything and everything you want to know about Liberty HealthShare, you can go to our website. You\u2019ll see we are an open book,\u201d Morrow states. \u201cIf for some reason you can\u2019t find what you\u2019re looking for, give us a call, shoot us an email. We will be glad to work with you to get the information that you\u2019re needing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Members can track their contributions\u2019 impact through an online portal called ShareBox, reinforcing the community connection by showing exactly how their monthly shares help others.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the ministry has earned recognition from Charity Navigator for operational excellence, transparency, and accountability.<\/p>\n

Flexibility That Respects Individual Needs<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Liberty HealthShare offers six different programs tailored for various family sizes and financial circumstances. Monthly share amounts range from $87 to $369 for individuals, with family options starting at $319.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got a number of programs so that somebody can select whatever works best for their family,\u201d Morrow explains. The ministry also offers a dental sharing program with monthly shares starting at $35.<\/p>\n

This flexibility extends to provider choice. While Liberty HealthShare participates in one of the country\u2019s largest networks to help control costs, members remain free to see any provider.<\/p>\n

Year-round enrollment without annual commitment requirements provides additional freedom. \u201cIf you determine it doesn\u2019t work for you, you\u2019re not locked into it. You\u2019re free to move to another program, another ministry, or some other option,\u201d Morrow notes.<\/p>\n

The ministry actively works to reduce healthcare costs through multiple negotiation strategies. Rather than relying on a single approach, Liberty HealthShare employs several specialized vendors to engage with providers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t use just one or two vendors to help us negotiate with medical providers on behalf of our members,\u201d Morrow explains. \u201cWe\u2019ve got three or four various vendors, and each of them have a very specific task and help us identify problem areas.\u201d<\/p>\n

Members frequently highlight this benefit in their testimonials. \u201cThey also do the work of trying to lower the cost of medical bills instead of making me do it,\u201d noted member Jen Lamb.<\/p>\n

Member-Driven Program Development<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Liberty HealthShare actively incorporates feedback<\/a> into program development. \u201cWe do every six months a survey of our members asking them about their emerging needs,\u201d Morrow adds. \u201cWe ask, \u2018What do you need?\u2019 And so, we constantly have that list with us.
