which surgical treatment is envisaged, then analyze the surgical procedures.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Spinal surgery<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.turquiesante.com\/en\/spinal-surgery-130\" technique.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the decompressive laminectomy;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">spinal fusion;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lumbar microdiscectomy;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">anterior cervical discectomy;<\/span><\/li>\n<li invasive technique, preserving the paraspinal structures and improving postoperative recovery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can also be considered in cases of:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">severe disc herniation;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">unstable spondylolisthesis;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">osteophytosis of the spine.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Removal, in the latter case, is considered only in extremely severe cases unresponsive to other treatments.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Spinal fusion<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spinal fusion is the surgery of choice for the treatment of severe scoliosis (over 40\u00b0 Cobb), as well as:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">severe hyperkyphosis (over 70\u00b0 Cobb degrees);<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">severe disc herniation with spinal instability;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">symptomatic spondylolisthesis;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">spinal stenosis with spinal instability.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The procedure in question involves the application of rods and screws (modernly also percutaneously) by the spine surgeon following manual repositioning of the spine (within the limits allowed by its flexibility).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next, bone fragments are placed that initiate the fusion process, making the affected vertebrae stable and immobile.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An operation intended for rare cases, spinal fusion makes the spine stiffer but less curved and more stable, preventing the progression of both curvature (in the case of scoliosis) and associated symptomatology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Increasingly in vogue back in our day is the formerly well-known dynamic stabilization (without arthrodesis).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Widely used in the early 2000s, it responds effectively to the increasing demands of people to maintain \u201cfreedom of movement\u201d while effectively stabilizing their spine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We will soon return to this very important concept and the possible applications of dynamic spinal stabilization.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Lumbar microdiscectomy<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Performed under general anesthesia, microdiscectomy is done with the aid of an operating microscope, inserted through an access of less than 3 cm at the height of the affected vertebra.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span
