\"Reichen<\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s impossible to ignore the links between meat production and outbreaks of viruses such as COVID-19,” suggests <\/span>Reichen Kuhl<\/span><\/a>, speaking from his home in Los Angeles, California.<\/span><\/p>\n

Particularly where animals are raised for meat in huge numbers across giant, filthy, intensively farmed livestock warehouses, pathogens flourish, according to the lawyer and entrepreneur. “Dangerous viruses and new strains of deadly bacteria more often than not stem from these deplorable places,” says <\/span>Reichen Kuhl<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

COVID-19, it’s been reported by public health experts, much like SARS and MERS, originated from inhumane live-animal meat markets and facilities. “All three diseases are capable,” Kuhl reveals, “of spreading directly from animals to humans.”<\/span><\/p>\n

More than 70 percent of all recently emerging infectious diseases capable of affecting humans originated as diseases in wild and farmed animals, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. News of this, <\/span>Reichen Kuhl<\/span> believes, is partly to thank for a recent reduction in U.S. meat consumption.<\/span><\/p>\n

“While these filthy, intensively farmed warehouses full of suffering animals, and where pathogens flourish, are already deservedly struggling amid ongoing restrictions centered around COVID-19, the pandemic has also led to a positive reduction in meat consumption thanks to public awareness of the facts surrounding the matter,” <\/span>Reichen Kuhl<\/span> reveals.<\/span><\/p>\n

With news rife, and rightly so, <\/span>Reichen Kuhl<\/span><\/a> says, that such an indisputable link exists between meat production and viruses including SARS, MERS, and COVID-19, meat consumption has fallen drastically in the U.S. in recent weeks and months based on the latest reports. “As many as a third of Americans have now restricted their meat consumption or eliminated meat from their diets completely in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic,” points out Kuhl. “Have we finally realized how disgusting and inhumane the mass production and consumption of all meat really is?”<\/span><\/p>\n

Reichen Kuhl Explains ‘wipe out’ Campaign<\/strong><\/p>\n

In March, PETA<\/a> launched an important, and thought-provoking campaign to help ‘wipe out’ coronavirus, promising a free roll of toilet paper with qualifying orders from their online store. “With toilet paper in high demand but short supply because of the coronavirus crisis, PETA was there to save use!” explains <\/span>Reichen Kuhl<\/span>. Each roll of free PETA toilet paper, he goes on to reveal, is printed with the lifesaving message ‘Wipe out animal-borne illness: Go vegan’ on every sheet.<\/span><\/p>\n

PETA has since gone on to share a shocking number of ties between COVID-19 coronavirus and meat production and consumption. “PETA has spent 40 years warning us about the risks to our health associated with eating meat, yet it’s taken a global pandemic to finally prompt a positive, significant reduction in U.S. meat consumption,” says <\/span>Reichen Kuhl<\/span><\/a>. “But I will always consider the first and worst problem of meat consumption as the absolute and undeniable cruelty we inflict on other living, breathing beings who experience pain and fear exactly as we do. Think about that. When you’re eating meat, you’re eating fear and <\/span>pain<\/span><\/em>–that you caused–just by purchasing it..”<\/span><\/p>\n

Kuhl himself<\/a>, too, recently touched on this in a piece exploring<\/a> links between COVID-19 and so-called Chinese wet markets. “It should come as no surprise, of course,” he explains, “that raising animals for food, very often in filthy conditions, results in what’s ultimately an ideal breeding ground for diseases, including those that can be transmitted from animals to humans.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s with this in mind, therefore, that I believe,” adds <\/span>Reichen Kuhl<\/span><\/a>, wrapping up, “that there’s never been a better time to eliminate meat from all of our diets and adopt a healthier, cruelty-free vegan lifestyle sooner rather than later.”<\/span><\/p>\n
