The deadline for the submission of bids to the Public Tender for the Lobito Corridor Rail and Support Logistics Services Concession has been extended. All potential bidders must submit proposals by 3:00 PM on January 21st, 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n

Whereas the preparation of bids for this tender procedure is complex, requiring compliance with the technical requirements laid down in the tender documents, due to the characteristics, volume and complexity of the services covered by the contract to be signed, as stated in the Presidential Decree no. 205\/21, of 30 August, which approves the Basis for the Lobito Corridor Rail and Support Logistics Services Concession and set out in the Tender Specifications.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ministry of Transport hereby gives notice to all interested parties that the deadline for submitting bids, previously scheduled for December 7th, 2021, is extended for 45 days. All potential bidders must submit proposals by 3:00 PM on January 21st, 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is also brought to the attention of all interested parties that the public act for the official opening proposals will be held on January 31st, 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n

On September 8, 2021, the Government of Angola opened an opportunity of shared management of the Lobito Corridor to private companies with the launch of an international tender for the concession of management and maintenance of its railway infrastructure, transport services of goods and logistics.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"qqq<\/p>\n

It intends to create a private capital company, a Special Purpose Entity (SPE), to be managed by private operators (or by a single entity) and with minority participation of the State.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The SPE will be assigned the following responsibilities:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Operating, exploring, and maintaining the Lobito\/Luau railway infrastructure (with the possibility of building a branch connecting to Zambia);<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Rail freight service on the Lobito\/Luau railway line;<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Construction, operation, and exploration of two freight transit terminals supporting the rail freight service on the Lobito\/Luau railway, one in Lobito and the other in Luau;<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Management of the training center in Huambo province, and;<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Operation, exploration, and maintenance of railway workshops.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The concession aims to ensure the maximization and economic enhancement of the Lobito Corridor’s railway infrastructure. This initiative, a platform for boosting the provincial and national economies, allows the creation of direct and indirect jobs for Angolan citizens; the increase in Angola’s exports; and indirect investments in multimodal platforms, terminals, and other crucial logistics infrastructure along the line which will promote the economic, social and cultural development of local communities by encouraging economic production throughout the concession’s perimeter.<\/span><\/p>\n
