Louisville, KY \u2013On August 28, 2021, several new members were inducted at a fundraiser held at the Sons of the American Revolution\u2019s (SAR) national headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky. The SAR is in the process of constructing a new state of the art museum. Donors who have played a major role in this ongoing process were honored and thanked for their generosity.<\/p>\n
The SAR was also pleased to be able to reunite a descendant of Alexander Hamilton with several rare Hamilton artifacts which were on display courtesy of Seth Kaller, Inc., a nationally recognized expert in acquiring, authenticating and appraising rare historic documents and artifacts.<\/p>\n
Among the rare Revolutionary Era documents on display was a love letter written by Alexander Hamilton to Elizabeth (Eliza) Schuyler on August 8, 1780. At the time, Hamilton was simultaneously courting Eliza, sorting military intelligence, and planning an attack on New York City to recapture it from the British. Ultimately, the decision was made to redirect forces, march south to Virginia, and surround General Cornwallis in Yorktown.<\/p>\n

The newly planned museum and education center will be located along \u201cMuseum Row\u201d in historic, downtown Louisville. The SAR Museum seeks to create an immersive visitor experience and will feature digital displays, large-scale multimedia productions, and interactive galleries.<\/p>\n
The SAR is a non-profit, educational, historical and patriotic organization, formed in 1889, and chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1906 (36 U.S.C. Chap. 1533).\u00a0 This Congressional charter was signed by President Theodore Roosevelt, who was a member of the SAR. The charter charges the SAR, among other things, to encourage research and study of the American Revolution, and to acquire and preserve the records, documents, relics, and landmarks of the American War for Independence (36 U.S.C. \u00a7 153302).<\/p>\n
