The report presents disaggregated regional, demographic, socioeconomic, and housing data for the most diverse and fastest-growing population in&nbsp;<span class=\"xn-location\">the United States<\/span>, providing a comprehensive resource for industry professionals, leaders, and decision-makers as they map ways to better serve this community. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to the report:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There is a huge variation in homeownership rate within the top 20 metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) by AAPI population. While the AAPI homeownership rate at&nbsp;<span class=\"xn-location\">Riverside<\/span>&nbsp;metro area is more than 70%, homeownership in the&nbsp;<span class=\"xn-location\">New York<\/span>&nbsp;metropolitan area is only 50%.<\/li>\n<li>There is a huge variation in homeownership rate by AAPI subpopulation as well. The Japanese homeownership rate is around 65%, while Nepalese homeownership rate is less than 30%.<\/li>\n<li>Many AAPI are buying houses and moving to large MSAs in&nbsp;<span class=\"xn-location\">California<\/span>,&nbsp;<span class=\"xn-location\">Texas<\/span>&nbsp;and the Northeast.<\/li>\n<li>Both AAPI homeownership rate and loan count (conventional purchase only) have been rising post financial crisis.<\/li>\n<li>AAPI loans are more likely to have 3 or more borrowers compared to Non-Hispanic whites, possibly due to multigenerational households.<\/li>\n<li>In aggregate, AAPI borrowers tend to be younger, have higher credit scores and income than overall population.<\/li>\n<li>In 2018, there were roughly 0.8 million &#8220;Mortgage Weak&#8221; AAPI applicants that were considered &#8220;credit thin&#8221; files with clean credit records. They didn&#8217;t have a bad credit but insufficient credit histories to generate a credit score.
