The Open Championship returns after a yearlong hiatus.

The major golf event was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the 2021 British Open will continue. This means Shane Lowry, the reigning champion, will have an opportunity to defend his one major title.

Lowry will face stiff competition as usual. World No. World No. 1 Jon Rahm will attempt to build on his U.S. Open win and will be joined by 18 of the top 20 golfers around the world. Hideki Matsuyama will be the only non-participant in the group, having tested positive for COVID-19.

Bryson de Chambeau, one of the top golfers, will be a star to watch as he plays his first tournament alongside a new caddie. DeChambeau broke up with Tim Tucker, his former caddie, before the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit.

Brooks Koepka, DeChambeau’s competitor, will also be present, so it will certainly be interesting to see how they continue their long-standing beef.

There are many reasons to attend the British Open at Royal St George’s Golf Course. This article will tell you everything about the event and how to watch it.
