In the town of Fursatganj, sixteen years later, the criminals have accepted domesticity, but the crime continues. In Uttar Pradesh, another, much younger couple (Sharvari and Siddhant Chaturvedi) is impersonating Bunty aur Babli and carrying out similar heists. Vimmi (Rani Mukerji) and Rakesh (Saif Ali Khan) return to what they know best \u2014 hunting down the new B&B in town \u2014 after being trapped by a new case in-charge Inspector Jatayu (Pankaj Tripathi) and then inspired by their own quest to restore their lost identity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Their motives for stealing are diametrically opposed: the first B&B did it to disprove the small-town bubble idea. They aspired to be renowned, even if it was only under a pseudonym. The big grin on Rani\u2019s face when she reads aloud from a Bunty-Babli kaand in the newspaper, as well as Abhishek Bachchan\u2019s cheeky smirk when he tells her, \u201cYe hum nahi, Bunty keh rahe hain,\u201d made the excitement of their heists apparent. It allowed us to experience their guilt-free ambition via them.<\/span><\/p>\n

B&B 2.0 are more Robinhood in nature. They take from the wealthy and corrupt and give to the needy. Consider another Yash Raj Films franchise, Dhoom. It was cool to be bad in the first two parts, so John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan played criminals. They were moral people who saw robbery as an art form. In Dhoom 3, Aamir Khan makes a film on the justification for his acts. Boooring!<\/span><\/p>\n

Sharvari and Chaturvedi, on the other hand, aren\u2019t even celebrities. It\u2019s only their second project since starting the company. Her character\u2019s predicament does allude to the source of the motivational dissonance. Millennials aim to be awake, and deception is most likely not one of their goals. Given the surround sound, they\u2019re also intended to be contemplative, so there has to be a noble end to their means. The core cause remains the same: a faulty, overburdened system that rewards only the corrupt. The OG\u2019s driving force Bunty Aur Babli is a reliable character. They did it to become famous, and they stopped because they wanted to start a family. When they realise their monopoly is in jeopardy and their brand is being copied (\u201ccopyright kara lena chahiye tha yar\u201d), they decide to protect their legacy. \u201cBunty aur Babli hum hain,\u201d Vimmi exclaims, and Rakesh nods with a bright glint in his eyes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Varun V Sharma\u2019s screenplay and direction pick up when the original couple returns to the game. However, the dialogues only hit the point on an irregular basis. While Rani and Saif still manage to get a lot of their lines across in their crisp exchanges, Amitabh\u2019s wacky cop Dashrath is sadly missed- movie entertainment news. Tripathi\u2019s comic timing isn\u2019t even close to Amitabh\u2019s, and the Raavan that the lifeless screenplay is slashes his wings Jatayu-style.<\/span><\/p>\n

Apart from Mukerji (who will be discussed later), the only constant in terms of music composers is Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. However, even among their recent songs, which included hits like Panga, Chhapaak, and Toofan, the soundtrack is a low point. Amitabh Bhattacharya could have been a suitable successor to Gulzar, but his lyrics pale in comparison to the original\u2019s, which were essentially a script in and of itself.<\/span><\/p>\n
