The City of Ferguson, MO, needed to update its permitting, licensing, and code enforcement processes, so officials partnered with OpenGov, the leader in modern cloud software for our nation’s cities, for digital permitting software.

The City, which is part of the greater St. Louis metro area, offers a significant number of permits and licenses for residents and businesses. Whether residents need a fence permit or dog license or businesses need a food truck permit or a liquor license, applicants will soon be able to use  a one easy-to-use online portal—OpenGov Citizen Services.

With OpenGov Citizen Services, City staff will be able to process permitting and licensing permits faster and more effectively because each application will flow electronically through department reviews. OpenGov’s solution prompts the next needed reviewer so applications flow quickly through the process, saving time for strategic initiatives. City officials also will be able to increase compliance and revenue using OpenGov’s code enforcement feature. The user-friendly portal gives residents the ability to submit code violations. With violations in hand, staff will be empowered to better enforce codes, centralize case management, and view data trend reports.

The City of Ferguson joins more than 1,100 public sector organizations leveraging OpenGov to revolutionize work processes with cloud-based software designed specifically for the needs of government.
